Pan Pizza Recipe you need to make this weekend

King Arthur Flour Recipe of 2020 Cheese Pan Pizza

I bought a sourdough starter from King Arthur flour and in the shipping box they included a postcard for “The 2020 Recipe of the Year – Crispy Cheesy Pan Pizza”. If that is not a headline that gets your attention, I don’t know what will. So, of course, I had to make it, and let me tell you it is amazing.

I made this the first time for Super Bowl and shared it with some guests, it was a huge hit. I will be honest, I was making a bunch of other dishes and took a few shortcuts with toppings, but the dough baked so amazingly light and fluffy in the middle and cheesy and crisp on the outside that it did not matter.

I have made it one other time since and upped my topping game this time using fresh mozzarella and fresh basil. It made it a little better but the star of this show is still the dough. Try it you will not regret it!

Beast Tips

  • Plan ahead, the recipe calls for at least 12 hours and up to 72 hours of cold rising in the fridge.
  • You will need less sauce than you think, follow the directions and just dollop a little sauce in a few spots.
  • Put the cheese right up on the edges to get that extra crispy burnt cheese goodness
  • Don’t skip the last 2-4 minutes where you move the pan from the bottom of the oven to the top to get the cheese a little extra crispy
